Diagnosis Tip: Have you checked that a faulty alternator is your problem? Try a couple of tests to find out. A good way to do this is to test the voltage across your battery, which should be approximately 14 volts when the engine is idling at about 2-2500rpm. If the voltage reading is less than 14 volts, there could be a problem. Alternatively, excessive noise may indicate that your alternators on the way out!
